AWS Village at AWS re:Invent

The AWS Village is a 20,000 sq/ft environment at the heart of Expo, where attendees meet with AWS specialists and learn about the latest technologies and services. The concept for this Village design was Convergence, with the physical build of the space able to “draw people and ideas together to shape the future of our world.”

A series of layered, translucent panels descended from above to define industry zones and circulation pathways. Radiant lighting showcased the sculptural elements and vivid graphics of the space to deliver a sensorial oasis within the greater Expo setting.

FORMULA 1 AUGMENTED REALITY EXPERIENCE


A full scale F1 race car was located within the AWS Village. 900lbs created an Augmented Reality (AR) journey to showcase F1 Insights powered by AWS. Attendees used an iPad Pro to explore the F1 vehicle by selecting “nodes” on markers that sat in areas around the car.

This activation was an AR experience designed to highlight how F1 and AWS digitally transforms the sport of racing. By using over 550 million data points from more than 5,000 simulations to enhance fan experiences, fans were able to understand the impact of drivers’ make split-second decisions and how teams devise and implement race strategies in real-time. Ultimately, the use of this data can impact the outcome of a race.


3D DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

FULL SCALE PROTOTYPE REVIEW

Three months before the event I led a full scale prototype review with AWS clients at our fabrication partner T3’s facility in Las Vegas. This review locked in final approvals for structures, materials and graphics.
