The pieces shown strive to represent the act of dynamic movement. In contrast to most paintings and photographs, which relay captured movement, my work is a more complex expression of movement in space and time.
While each piece is stationary, its physical gesture has a distinct visual velocity associated with it. Altering the physical form from an expanding to a contracting state, or vice versa provides further opportunities to radically change the perceived tempo of each piece.
As a materials and process-driven artist I’ve learned that every material has its own memory and an ambition for what it wants to be. My work follows a rigorous process exploring form and assembly, a making dialog of analog to digital and back.
Each piece is a mixed media assembly with some elements laser-cut from sheets of metalized acrylic. Additional pieces from this series can be seen on Instagram and Facebook.
