An update to the original Cell dish.
Cell dishes II were guided by investigations in the digital design movement – how new production methods can profoundly change design – in this case 3D printing. Through these investigations I examined the dialog between CAD space and the manufacturing production space, and how to leverage each to their maximum potential.
While digital fabrication allows for higher degrees of design complexity, one must keep in mind the specific machine and material being used for the final product. Each machine’s behavior is unique, so to fully exploit this new productions means an iterative design process was necessary to achieve a final result that surpassed expectations.
